EESSENTIAL OIL SAFETY - PLEASE READ

-Always use essential oils responsibly.
-Always dilute essential oils before applying to skin. Dilute with a carrier oil such as grapeseed oil, coconut oil or olive oil at the rate of 15 drops or less of essential oil per one ounce of carrier oil.A little essential oil goes long ways so do not be tempted to over do it. Always perform a patch test to check for skin sensitivity before using new oil. Place a small amount of the oil on a sensitive skin such as under the forearm. Place a bandage over it a wait 24 hours. If any sensitivity occurs wash area thoroughly and discontinue use or try a weaker solution.
-Keep essential oils out of reach of children! Treat them the same as you would care for any medications.
-Keep essential oils away from your eyes, mouth & nose.
-Handle essential oils carefully. Oils may damage some coatings and plastics.
-Keep essential oils away from fire and flame. Most essential oils are flammable.
-Store essential oils in a cool, dark place.

BASIL, SWEET ESSENTIAL OIL
Ocimum basilicum
DESCRIPTION: light, fresh, sweet, spicy scent with balsamic hint.

COMMON USES: insect bites, insect repellent, gout, muscular aches and pains, bronchitis, coughs, earache, sinusitis, anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, migraine, nervous tension.

SAFETY: Relatively non-toxic, non-irritant, possible sensitization. Avoid during pregnancy.


CEDARWOOD ESSENTIAL OIL
Juniperus virginiana
DESCRIPTION: mild, sweet, balsamic, "pencil-wood" scent.

COMMON USES: acne, dandruff, eczema, greasy hair, insect repellent, oily skin, psoriasis, arthritis, bronchitis, congestion, coughs, sinusitis, cystitis, nervous tension, stress.

SAFETY: Relatively non-toxic; acute irritation and possible sensitization in some. Avoid during pregnancy. Not for internal use.

 

CINNAMON LEAF ESSENTIAL OIL
Cinnamomum zeylanicum
DESCRIPTION: Warm spicy scent.

COMMON USES: lice, tooth and gum care, warts, wasp stings, poor circulation, chills, colds, flu, nervous exhaustion, stress.

SAFETY: Relatively non-toxic; possible irritant. Use in moderation.


CITRONELLA ESSENTIAL OIL
Cymbopogon winterianus
DESCRIPTION: Fresh woody sweet fragrance.

COMMON USES: excessive perspiration, oily skin, insect repellent, colds, flu, minor infections, fatigue, headaches, migraine.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant; may cause dermatitis. Avoid during pregnancy. Not for internal use.


CLOVE BUD ESSENTIAL OIL
Eugenia caryophyllata
DESCRIPTION: Sweet spicy scent odor with a fruity top note;

COMMON USES: acne, athlete's foot, bruises, burns, cuts, insect repellent, toothache, ulcers, wounds, arthritis, sprains, asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu

SAFETY: Can cause skin and mucous membrane irritation. Use in moderation only.

 

CYPRESS ESSENTIAL OIL
Cupressus sempervirens
DESCRIPTION: Sweet balsamic scent.

COMMON USES: hemorrhoids, oily skin, excessive perspiration, insect repellent, pyorrhea, varicose veins, wounds, cellulitis, muscular cramp, edema, poor circulation, asthma, bronchitis, menopausal problems, nervous tension, stress

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing. Not for internal use.

 

EUCALYPTUS, LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL
Eucalyptus citriodora
DESCRIPTION: strong, fresh, sweet balsamic undertone.

COMMON USES: fungal infections, cuts, dandruff, herpes, insect repellent, sores, wounds, asthma, laryngitis, sore throat, colds, fevers, infectious skin conditions.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, possible sensitization. Toxic when taken internally.

 

FRANKINCENSE ESSENTIAL OIL
Boswellia serrata
DESCRIPTION: Fresh, terpeney top note and a warm, rich, sweet- balsamic undertone.

COMMONUSES: blemishes, dry and mature complexions, scars, wounds, wrinkles, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, laryngitis, cystitis, colds, flu, anxiety, nervous tension, stress.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing. Not for internal use.


LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL
Lavandula augustifolia
DESCRIPTION: floral herbal scent and balsamic undertone.

COMMON USES: abscesses, acne, allergies, athlete's foot, boils, bruises, burns, dandruff, dermatitis, earache, eczema, inflammations, insect bites and stings, insect repellent, lice, psoriasis, ringworm, scabies, sores, all skin types, sunburn, wounds, lumbago, muscular aches and pains, rheumatism, sprains, asthma, bronchitis, halitosis, laryngitis, throat infections, whooping cough, cystitis, flu, depression, headache, hypertension, insomnia, migraine, nervous tension, stress, PMS, shock, vertigo.

Citrus limonum
DESCRIPTION: bright, fresh, citrus scent.

COMMON USES: acne, anemia, brittle nails, boils, corns, cuts, oily skin, herpes, insect bites, mouth ulcers, varicose veins, warts, arthritis, cellulitis, high blood pressure, poor circulation, asthma, throat infections, bronchitis, colds, flu, fever, infections.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing. Phototoxic. Not for internal use.


LEMONGRASS ESSENTIAL OIL
Cymbopogon flexuosus
DESCRIPTION: Fresh, grassy citrus type scent and an earthy hint.

COMMON USES: acne, athlete's foot, excessive perspiration, insect repellent, open pores, tissue toner, muscular pain, poor circulation and muscle tone, fevers, infectious disease, headaches, nervous exhaustion, stress.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, possible dermal irritation and/or sensitization.

ORANGE, SWEET ESSENTIAL OIL
Citrus sinensis
DESCRIPTION: sweet, fresh citrus scent

COMMON USES: dull and oily complexions, mouth ulcers, obesity, palpitations, water retention, bronchitis, chills, colds, flu, nervous tension, stress.

SAFETY: Generally non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.

 

PINK GRAPEFRUIT ESSENTIAL OIL
Citrus paradisi
Description: fresh, sweet, citrus aroma

Common Uses: acne, congested and oily skin, promotes hair growth, tones the skin and tissues, exercise preparation, muscle fatigue, obesity, stiffness, water retention, chills, colds, flu, depression, headaches, nervous exhaustion, performance stress

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing, non-phototoxic


NUTMEG ESSENTIAL OIL
Myristica fragrans
DESCRIPTION: Sweet, warm, spice scent

COMMON USES: arthritis, gout, muscular aches and pains, poor circulation, frigidity, impotence, nervous fatigue.

SAFETY: Generally non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing. Use in moderation.


PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
Mentha piperita
DESCRIPTION: Herbal minty scent.

COMMON USES: acne, dermatitis, ringworm, scabies, toothache, neuralgia, muscular pain, palpitations, asthma, bronchitis, halitosis, sinusitis, spasmodic cough, colds, flu, fevers, fainting, headache, mental fatigue, migraine, nervous stress, vertigo.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant (except in concentration), possible sensitization.


PALMAROSA ESSENTIAL OIL
Cymbopogon martinii
DESCRIPTION: Sweet, floral, rosy, geranium-like scent

COMMON USES: acne, dermatitis, scars, sores, wrinkles, moisturizes the skin, stimulates cellular regeneration, regulates sebum production, nervous exhaustion, stress.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.


ROSEWOOD ESSENTIAL OIL
Aniba roseodora
DESCRIPTION: Sweet, woody-rosy fragrance.

COMMON USES: acne, dermatitis, scars, wounds, wrinkles and general skin care, sensitive, dry, dull, combination oily/dry, etc., colds, coughs, fever, infections, stimulates the immune system, frigidity, headaches, nausea, nervous tension, stress.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing.

 

SAGE ESSENTIAL OIL
Salvia lavandufolia
DESCRIPTION: Fresh herbal with somewhat evergreen scent

COMMON USES: acne, cuts, dandruff, dermatitis, eczema, excessive sweating, hair loss, gingivitis, gum infections, sores, arthritis, debility, fluid retention, muscular aches, poor circulation, rheumatism, asthma, coughs, laryngitis, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, colds, fever, flu, headaches, nervous exhaustion, stress.

TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL
Melaleuca alternifolia
DESCRIPTION: Warm, fresh, camphor like scent

COMMON USES: abscess, acne, athlete's foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, dandruff, herpes, insect bites, oily skin, rashes, blemishes, veruccae, warts, wounds, asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, coughs, sinusitis, tuberculosis, whooping cough, thrush, vaginitis, cystitis, pruritis, colds, fever, flu, infectious illness.

SAFETY: Non-toxic, non-irritant, possible sensitization. Not for internal use.


THYME ESSENTIAL OIL
Thymus satureoides
DESCRIPTION: Sweet, herbal fresh greenish scent

COMMON USES: abscess, acne, bruises, burns, cuts, dermatitis, eczema, insect bites, lice, oily skin, scabies, arthritis, cellulitis, gout, muscular aches and pains, edema, poor circulation, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis, cystitis, chills, colds, flu, infectious diseases, headaches, insomnia, stress.

SAFETY: May cause irritation or sensitization. Use in moderation. Do not use during pregnancy. Contraindicated in cases of high blood pressure.

 


A Few Ways to Use Essential Oils
BATH- Fill the tub and add a few drops of oil to the bath water and whisk.
DIFFUSING-Use a commercially made diffuser and follow instructions or place a few drops in a vaporizer or in a lamp ring.
POTPOURRI- Freshen bought or homemade potpourri naturally
LAUNDRY- Add a few drops on a cloth and add to the dryer at the cool down cycle.
LINEN SPRITZER - Add water to a spray bottle and put in several drops of Lavender Essential Oil depending on how strong you want it. Spritz sheets, pillows, towels and other linens to freshen. Shake the bottle often while you spray as the water and oil will separate.
ALL PURPOSE CLEANING- Add a few drops to a quart of water to clean surface areas.
